Therapist website and profile that is already waiting for you

Your practice is already listed on NearbyTherapy, built from your public record in the federal NPPES NPI Registry. Claim the listing, verify your license and turn it into a professional page that patients near you can find, read and contact, for one flat monthly price.

Your profile is already here

Every licensed counselor, social worker, marriage and family therapist and psychologist with an active NPI record is listed in our directory. We build each listing from the public NPPES NPI Registry, which is maintained by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and we refresh it every month.

An unclaimed listing shows only what the registry holds: your name, credential, practice address, city, state, practice phone, NPI, and your license number and state when the registry has them. It carries an "Unclaimed" badge, a button patients can use to call your practice, and a link that says "Is this you? Claim this profile".

  • No photo, bio or specialties are added to a listing you have not claimed.
  • No reviews or ratings appear on any profile.
  • You can request a correction or removal of your listing at any time.

Claim your listing and verify your license

Claiming takes three steps. Find your listing with your NPI number or your name and state on the claim your therapist profile page, create your account with your email and a password, then confirm your email with a six digit code.

After you claim, we compare your NPI, license number and license state with the NPPES record and with the public lookup of your state licensing board. When everything matches, your profile shows a "License verified" badge. The full process is described on the therapist license verification page.

What patients see on a claimed profile

A claimed profile is written by you and shows the details people look for before they reach out. Patients use these details in search filters, so a complete profile appears in more relevant searches.

  • A photo you upload yourself
  • Specialties and the concerns you work with
  • Therapy approaches you use, such as CBT, DBT, EMDR or IFS
  • Insurance plans you accept and your self-pay fees
  • Whether you see clients in person, online or both
  • A short statement in your own words
  • An inquiry form that sends you new client inquiries
  • The "License verified" badge

Filters that only claimed profiles appear in

Concern, insurance and price filters match claimed profiles only, because the registry does not hold this information. When a patient filters for anxiety, a specific insurance plan or a fee range, claimed profiles that match appear at the top. Registry listings in the area appear below them under "More licensed providers in" followed by the city name.

How new client inquiries reach you

The inquiry form on your profile asks for a first name, an email address, an optional phone number, a preferred contact time, in person or online, and how the person plans to pay. There is room for a short optional message, and the form asks people not to include medical details.

Before an inquiry is delivered, the sender confirms their email with a code. You then receive the inquiry by email. On the Featured plan and above, you also receive an SMS alert so you can reply quickly, and inquiries collect in an inquiry inbox.

  • Inquiries come straight to you, not to a call center.
  • You reply on your own terms, by email or phone.
  • We never ask patients for diagnoses or session details.

A therapist website without building one

Many therapists need a clear, trustworthy page more than a full website project. A claimed profile works as that page. It has its own address you can share in your email signature, on business cards and in referral letters, and it shows your credentials, approach, fees and insurance in one place.

You edit it whenever your availability, fees or insurance panels change. There is no design work, no hosting to manage and no separate domain to renew.

One flat price with no per-client fee

NearbyTherapy charges a flat subscription. There is no fee per new client, no fee per inquiry and no cut of your session fees. What a client pays you stays between you and the client.

Running a group practice

Practice owners and clinical directors can add a practice page, route inquiries to the right clinician by specialty and insurance, give staff their own roles and pay with one invoice. Read more on the group practice directory listing page.

Why am I listed if I never signed up

Your listing comes from the NPPES NPI Registry, a public federal record. We show only the registry fields. You can claim the listing to control it, or request a correction or removal at any time.

Do you take a share of my session fees

No. You pay a flat subscription. There is no per-client fee and no cut of what clients pay you.

Can I use my profile as my website

Yes. A claimed profile has its own address and works as a simple professional web page that you can link from anywhere.

Is my license checked

Yes. Your NPI, license number and license state are compared with the NPPES record and with your state licensing board public lookup before the "License verified" badge appears.
